New Diesel Stop to open in Warwick just in time for polocrosse influx
IOR Petroleum, a major sponsor of the 2019 Adina Polocrosse World Cup, will open its new depot in Warwick on Friday 21 December 2018 which will help to service the expected 60,000 spectators who will attend the World Cup in April next year.
The Warwick Diesel Stop will initially provide diesel and AdBlue at the bowser to existing customers via the IOR Tag. By the end of March 2019, the depot will feature a canopy, shower and toilets, and offer bulk diesel, unleaded and premium unleaded petrol offsite deliveries. In the new year, the site will also support IOR’s ‘pay at the pump’ mobile app—IOR QuickPay—which will allow customers to purchase fuel at IOR’s Diesel Stops across Australia via their smartphones.
IOR’s Managing Director, Stewart Morland, said the partnership with the 2019 Adina Polocrosse World Cup aligns with the company’s desire to support regional and rural Australia, both through its business investments and contribution to communities.
“South West Queensland is an area of significant investment for IOR, and the World Cup is an event that certainly appeals to the regional and rural communities where our customer base is located, therefore it was a perfect fit for us in terms of a partnership,” Mr Morland said.
“Polocrosse is a sport that really connects regional Australia. We have customers who are heavily involved in the sport, including one of our major transport customers, Fraser’s Livestock Transport, with Les Fraser being a member of the World Cup organising committee. We have previously supported polocrosse on a smaller scale and felt that the World Cup provided the perfect opportunity to step up our support and give back to the communities that support us.”
“The new depot will provide additional fuel services for the influx of visitors expected to converge on Warwick during the World Cup, along with the Warwick community and on-road commercial customers that pass through the town. We have existing local staff and depots in South West Queensland at Charlton, Goondiwindi and St George. The Warwick depot is our latest investment in a region that has had a tough 2018.”
“We look forward to partnering with the 2019 World Cup and being an active participant in a very successful and important event for Australia and in particular the greater Warwick region,” he said.
The Adina Polocrosse World Cup will be held in Warwick, QLD from 22-28 April 2019. Polocrosse is one of only three home-grown Australian sports, along with Australian Rules football and Campdraft. The 2019 Adina Polocrosse World Cup will attract 300 competitors from around the world, 2,000 international guests and 60,000 spectators, making it the largest international sporting event ever held in rural Australia.
